Oscar-nominated filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos' next film, bugonianow has a house at Focus Features. Focus will release the film with Universal Pictures distributing it internationally (except Korea). bugoniastarring Emma Stone (hello poor things reunion!) and Jesse Plemons, has no release date at this time; however, we have a very short log line that is intriguing:

Two conspiracy-obsessed young men kidnap the powerful CEO of a major company, convinced it's an alien plot to destroy planet Earth.

Oh, you gotta love it when people kidnap someone and it's not human. At least they actually go into it thinking it's a being from another world. The hijackers inside Abigail had no idea they were being taken over a vampire boy.

Yorgos Lanthimos' bugonia is based on a 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy “Save the Green Planet”. So, if you're anything like me, you'll want to check it out while you wait for this movie to finally arrive. One thing's for sure: Peter Kujawski, the president of Focus Features, totally digs the Bugonia story. Here's what he had to say about the news:

“Yorgos Lanthimos is a cinematic visionary with a unique style that has captivated audiences around the world. We couldn't be more excited to partner with him, Emma and the incredible teams at Element, Square Peg and CJ ENM to reimagine this twisted and darkly funny story.”

Emma Stone plays a strange character and Lanthimos' direction go together like peanut butter and jelly.
