‘30 Days of Night’s Scary Child Vampire Makes Abigail Look Like an Angel

Little monsters are all the rage these days, and no, we're not talking Hotel Transylvania. With the release of the latest vampire horror film Abigailaudiences have recalled another vampire film that contained a moment similar to the entirety of the 2024 picture: 30 days of night. While the 2007 Alaska-based horror film isn't just about vampire girls running around eating everyone, the film (which is based on an IDW comic) takes some time to explore what might happen if a young woman became a vile. bloodsucker compared to Abigailthe 30 days of night vampires are much scarier. There is a gravity to this moment as Eben stares into the darkness, wondering if the girl will appear. Frankly, almost too much time passes while we wait for it to come out, but that's part of what makes the suspense so excruciating. When he does, any relief you may have felt at the reveal is quickly thrown out the window as your heart races again. Like Abigail, this vampire girl knows how to play with her food, but her size and horrifying screams make her even harder to kill..

It's also worth noting that in the original IDW comic series, the girl (named Marcy in the book) is not only just as scary, but also survives the ordeal to party another day. Just the vampire implications like this are enough to make the blood curdle, and while Abigail takes the concept and makes us laugh at the ridiculous, 30 days of night it cuts through us mercilessly as we struggle to survive in the image with those on the screen.

'30 Days of Night' has a less comedic approach than 'Abigail'

with Abigail, there is definitely a level of comedy that is inserted into the horror story. How could it not be with such a strange premise? But for the 2024 movie, this horror-comedy combination works masterfully and has garnered praise from most (though not all) critics everywhere. Perhaps rightly so. But 30 days of night is a classic horror film that, while mixing in a few other genres, ultimately sticks to its guns as it brings these vampire horrors to the big screen. As noted above, these vampires are some of the most fearsome, violent, cruel, and bloodthirsty you'll ever see on film, and considering the most comedic interpretations of vampire history lately: Abigail, Renfield, What do we do in the shadows? – is a welcome change.

Everyone rightly praises Alisha Weir for her excellent and gory performance as a vampire dancer in her own lead film, but we mustn't forget that young Abbey-May Wakefield, whose only role be in the feature film. 30 days of night. It may not have nearly the same amount of screen time, but what it does have sticks with you, especially if you're checking out this vampire flick on a cold, winter night. Then make sure you turn on the lights before you go to sleep.
