The wheels of women’s football never stop spinning.
Days after the Spanish national team won its first World Cup, club football is back and the 2023-2024 season is right around the corner.
But before the season officially kicks off, a stop in Toulouse is needed, as has been the case over the last five years. The AMOS Women’s French Cup is waiting for its new winner!
What Is It?
The AMOS Women’s French Cup is a friendly women’s inter-club football competition created in 2017 yearly taking place in Toulouse, France. It is usually played between 4 European clubs as a pre-season preparation.
This year, the sixth edition will feature four legendary clubs: Paris Saint Germain, Atlético de Madrid, AC Milan, and Liverpool FC. The semi-finals are set to be played on Monday, August 28 while the final and the third-place match are scheduled for August 31.

In 2017, the Sport Incub association, which fights for gender equality, organized the first edition of this professional pre-season tournament in the hopes of shedding light on women’s football in France and the world.
Five years later, for the 2022 edition that saw Bayern Munich triumphed, no less than two million viewers in more than twenty-five countries following the event’s four matches.
The AMOS Women’s French Cup has proven itself as one of the toughest pre-season tournaments in the world.
This year, some of the greatest players in the world will meet at the AMOS WFC barely 10 days after the World Cup Final. The opportunity for players, coaches, and staff to fully enter the 2023/2024 season.

Paris Saint Germain’s Grace Geyoro, Sakina Karchaoui, Lieke Martens, Jackie Groenen, Constance Picaud, Ramona Bachmann, and Viola Calligaris have resumed training with the French capital’s team and are expected to take part.
Atletico Madrid can count on the Colombia Leicy Santos, the Nigerian Rasheedat Ajibade, the Dutch Merel van Dongen, and the Argentinian Estefania Banini on their quest to win the first Amos Cup title for the Spaniards.
Sara Thrige Andersen, Laura Giuliani, and Valentina Cernoia are the three World Cup names available for AC Milan Women as Kosovare Asllani and Aniek Nouwen still didn’t join the team.
For the Merseyside’s Reds, Matt Beard can count on Niamh Fahey, Fuka Nagano, and Shanice van de Sanden as they’re back to club football.
The Former Cup Winners
For the inaugural edition in 2017, Montpellier HSC defeated the giants Olympique Lyonnais in the final to secure the first of their two AMOS Women’s French Cup trophies.
Their second came in 2019 after beating another French team, Paris Saint Germain.
Arsenal won the second edition in 2018 beating Paris Saint Germain.
Bayern Munich have won the last two editions of the tournament. In 2021, they defeated AS Roma, while in 2022, a 3-0 victory against Manchester United saw them clinch their second trophy in Toulouse.
The 2020 edition was canceled due to the Covid outbreak.
For the 2023 tournament, one thing is certain: We will have a new winner. The Bavarian team isn’t in Toulouse.
