Cleveland Guardians Win Top Spot In Major League Baseball Draft Lottery

The Cleveland Guardians have won the top slot in the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.

The Guardians, won the No. 1 pick in the draft, based on a lottery held December 5 at the MLB Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Guardians have never had the No. 1 draft pick in the team’s storied history.

The complete MLB draft order is as follows:

2- Cincinnati Reds

3- Colorado Rockies

4- Oakland Athletics

5- Chicago White Sox

6- Kansas City Royals

7- St. Louis Cardinals

8- Los Angeles Angels

9- Pittsburgh Pirates

10- Washington Nationals

11- Detroit Tigers

12- Boston Red Sox

13- San Francisco Giants

14- Chicago Cubs

15- Seattle Mariners

16- Miami Marlins

17- Milwaukee Brewers

18- Tampa Bay Rays

The MLB draft will take place in July during All Star Week in Arlington, Texas.

PJ Morlando, OF, Summerville North Carolina High School

Tommy White, 3B-LSU

After learning of their top draft slot, Guardians President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti told MLB TV, “Hard to describe. Not something I was expecting. An extraordinary opportunity for us.”
