In his memoirs of 2023, Become truly free, Vuolo talked about the cancellation. “So many emotions came out of me that day. I felt sad,” she wrote. She went on to explain what the show meant to her. “Filming had been a constant in my life since I was 10 years old. When the show was on hiatus and the teams didn't come for a few months, I missed the energy and excitement of interacting with all the creative people,” the California resident continued. “The producers worked with my family to come up with ideas for the episodes. It was fun to think of creative ways to give the audience a glimpse into our daily lives.”

However, he was surprised that the show went on as long as it did. “In the early years, my family assumed the show wouldn't last more than a season or two. It didn't seem possible that so many Americans would be interested in a family with our conservative values,” she said. “However, every year, TLC renewed the show. For most of my life, that wasn't a burden.” So Vuolo's decision not to return to reality TV right now makes sense.
