Fiennes, Varma Star In New Production Of ‘Macbeth’ For 21st Century

A new production of William Shakespeare Macbethstarring Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma, will be shown in select theaters across the United States this month, starting today.

Compared to “Succession in a war zone,” the production is currently sold out being staged by the Shakespeare Theater Company in Washington DC through May 5. It is designed for a custom-made space.

Filmed live at London's Dock X especially for cinemas, the production is being screened in US cinemas by Trafalgar Releasing, in association with Wessex Grove and Underbelly.

At the end of his original run in London and later in Liverpool and Edinburgh, Macbeth will have touched a sold-out audience of more than 100,000 people in 110 performances.

Fiennes (Antony and Cleopatra, Schindler's List, Coriolanus) is a Tony and BAFTA winner, while Varma (Present Laughter, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luther) is an Olivier Award winner.

The production is directed by Simon Godwin, with sets and costumes by Frankie Bradshaw.
