First Look at BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER Animated Series

TV

When Max, formerly HBO Max, the streamer owned by Warner Bros, decided to sell its long-awaited Batman animated series on Prime Video, we were shocked. Why wouldn't people who own Batman want to keep Batman? It's another in a series of baffling moves by David Zaslav's company. However, at least we know the show is coming out. It won't fall into the void that other unreleased (or even released) projects have. Batman: Caped Crusader will premiere on Prime with all 10 episodes on August 1st of this year, and now we have a solid look showing off its 1940s vibe.

Prime Video

The animated series, from producers Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves, is clearly inspired by the original comics from the Golden Age of the 1940s. Batman's suit, with its slightly convex ears and gloves with black hands, it is a proof.

The other Batman: Caped Crusader The images show Bruce Wayne, Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Commissioner Gordon, Clayface and Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn. Definitely not straight from the comics, but definitely a completely unique take on everyone.

Timm's work in 1991 Batman: The Animated Series was and is the hallmark of Batman's look in animation. Here even more than this show, we have the influence of the Fleischer brothers Superman shorts. We can't wait to see a trailer to get an even better idea of the tone. But this Harley look is pretty terrifying. Batman: Caped Crusader we are very excited, to say the least.
