HOUSE OF THE DRAGON’s New Opening Credits Weaves a Targaryen Family Tapestry

House of the Dragon is back, and while still using the franchise signature theme song, the show has a gorgeous new opening credits sequence. The game of thronesThe premiere of the second season of the prequel began by weaving a tapestry of fire and blood of the Targaryen family.

Instead of focusing on the Targaryen family lineage as the first season's opening credits did with its more mechanical sequence, House of the DragonThe second season intro has a more personal feel. Highlights some of the most famous moments of the family's time in Westeros, as it is based on Aegon II and his half-sister Rhaenyra sitting on their competing thrones at the Dance of Dragons. (He sits on the Iron Throne in King's Banishment. She sits on the Dragon Throne.)

But while this opening may be more beautiful, it is also more ominous. The red threads of this Targaryen tapestry serve as a reminder of how much fire and blood they brought to the Realm.
