Mark Hamill Is Back as the Joker Despite Saying He Was Done

Mark Hamill he still hasn't had the last laugh as The Joker. Although the voice actor has previously stated that he had since retired as a villain when his partner in crime Kevin Conroy (Batman) died in 2022, fans will hear their clown prince of crime a few more times before the year is out. We previously knew that Hamill would return as the Joker Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three next to Conroy, but it is it has been announced that he will also be a playable character in the fighting game MultiVersus.

MultiVersus was one Super Smash Bros.-com Mascot platform fighting game that brought together all the most popular characters from Warner Brothers. This included Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Game of Thrones, Rick and Morty, Adventure Time and of course the DC Universe. The latter characters featured heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman alongside villains like Harley Quinn. The free-to-play game initially launched in the summer of 2022 before abruptly shutting down a year later in 2023. Conroy recorded all of his lines for Batman before his death. Now, by popular demand, Player First Games is relaunching the game later this month with Joker as the first new character added. A cinematic trailer was also released showing the upcoming showdown between Conroy's Dark Knight and Hamill's Joker. The actor even recites one of the character's classic lines, “wait until they take care of me,” which Jack Nicholson famous said a by Tim Burton Batman.

Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy are unique

Both Hamill and Conroy debuted as their respected characters Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Hamill's the first episode was “Joker's Favor” and the rest is DC history. The actor would reprise the role in almost every DCAU show, com The New Adventures of Batman, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League i static shockin addition to cult classic films Batman: Mask of the Ghost i Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. It would even appear in the video game Batman: Vengeance as the main villain. However, after the DCAU ended, Hamill and Conroy would continue their war in many ways. This includes movies like Batman: The Killing Jokeshow how Justice League action i Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?and video games like the Batman: Arkham franchise Hamill has never voiced the character without Conroy as his Batman. That remains true with this next appearance MultiVersus.

When is 'MultiVersus' coming out?

MultiVersus will relaunch the free-to-play game with Joker as a playable character on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
