Marvel Will Release at Most 3 Movies and 2 Shows Per Year with ‘Reduced’ Output Plan

It's about to get a whole lot easier to track the MCU. Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that Marvel Studios will reduce its production as part of a plan to focus on the quality of its products. In a conference call on quarterly numbers, Iger appeared to refer to the desire to “increase volume” driving decisions in the past, but no longer. Now the focus will be to “decrease volume … reduce production and focus more on quality.” In its reduced state, the MCU will now only see three new movie releases and two new series releases per year.

Iger shares, “We're going to gradually taper off and probably go to about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and we're going to reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three. And we're working hard on what that path is.”

Hopefully, reducing Marvel Studios output to just three MCU movies and two shows per year will improve content quality. Perhaps this reduction in content will also allow the releases to breathe, allowing fans to anticipate and feel excited about their releases.
