NEW YORK — The 2024 Met gala saw hundreds of celebrities dressed up their best dresses for fashion's biggest night.
Flowers took center stage on the green carpet since stars arrived for one of the most starry and secret holidays of the year
Fundraising for the Metropolitan Museum of Art is reserved for the big names in fashion, film and art. Guests take risks, go big and try to steal the scene.
“It's celebrating creativity and individuality,” said Kylie Minogue.
The “The Garden of Time” The dress code celebrated nature as a metaphor for the ephemerality of fashion.
“I'm always honoring the garden of time by trying to stay in the present moment,” Jonathan Groff said.
Cardi B shuts down the red carpet

There were a lot of great moments and great looks.
Cardi B needed eight controllers to help her dress the steps of the museum, Lana Del Ray came with an antler headdress and Lizzo needed help turning her head.
The Met Gala marks the opening of the museum's spring 2024 exhibit, called “Sleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion.” There will be 250 rare historical pieces on display, including some so fragile that even mannequins can't carry them.
“I feel like some of the pieces are incredibly old and fragile. So I'm going to make sure that I don't fall and knock over any of the pieces in the exhibit,” said Alexander Skarsgård.
Actress Lily Gladstone worked with an indigenous designer on her dress with nearly 500 silver stars.
“And they're all shaped like constellations that you'd see on the Great Plains on the summer solstice,” Gladstone said.
Zendaya walks the red carpet twice

Costume changes came from Demi Moore and Zendaya, one of the hosts of the gala who walked the carpet not once, but twice.
“It's also a night that requires a lot of work to put together, and then a lot of support in the fashion industry, which for me is a total art,” said Penélope Cruz.
The night wasn't just for Hollywood's hottest, but Broadway's as well, including Tony-nominated stars. “Cabaret”.
“I'm on the water tonight. It's going to be a soft night for me because I have a night off from the show,” said Eddie Redmayne.

“I'm honoring the original Sally Bowles, who iconically wore a beret like this, and I'm giving her flowers,” Gayle Rankin said.
Between the opulent gowns and star-studded lineup, it's hard to compare the Met Gala on any other night.
“I'm looking forward to being with some friends,” Dan Levy said.
“When you step on the mat, it's time to go, it's game 7. And hopefully at the end of the game, I look at my stats, I hope I did well when I see the pictures come out,” said the retired star of the nba Dwayne Wade.
A single ticket to this year's Met Gala started at $75,000, with tables starting at $350,000. The gala is the main source of funding for the Costume Institutes and raised $22 million last year.
