That may have been the thought process some Met Gala attendees had when she decided to take a selfie or two during this year's evening on May 6, despite the rumored ban. But with all the mind-blowing fashion in the “Time Garden” dress code (see all the looks here), can you really blame them?

Inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Oh Edebiri took a picture with Nicholas Galitzine, kaia gerber, Troye Sivan i Rachel Sennotti cardi b gave social media users a close-up of her stunning look on her table. And when Lizzo decided to follow the tradition by taking a selfie in the bathroom at the Met Gala, Uma Thurman i Stella McCartney joined in the fun.

But if you're not familiar with the reported no-selfie rule, allow us to explain: Nine years ago, Page Six wrote that guests at the 2015 Met Gala received notices informing them, “The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala.”

Although Vogue has never confirmed or denied the rumored restriction, the highly gossipy guidelines may not have come as much of a surprise to fans. After all, VogueGlobal Editorial Director of Anna Wintour she had already made it clear that she is not a big fan of selfies.
