Fashion extravagance is flourishing again.
On May 6, the 2024 Met Gala will bring a fashion fantasy to the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. After all, the star-studded event, hosted by Anna Wintour and co-chairs Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez i Chris Hemsworth—celebrates the Costume Institute's new exhibition: “Sleeping beauties: fashion awakening”.
But this won't be a reimagining of a classic fairy tale considering the dress code is “The Garden of Time.” How Andrew Boltonsaid the chief curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Vogue“It's very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.”
That means bouquets and botanical looks, or designs beyond our wildest dreams, are likely to appear on the red carpet.
“This groundbreaking show will push the limits of our imagination,” said the museum's general director Max Hollein said in November, by Vogue. “And invite us to experience the many facets of a work, learn more about its history, and ultimately gain a deeper appreciation of its beauty.”
