High society New York City in the 1880s is the setting for HBO's hit period drama series, The Golden Age. Released in 2022, this historical drama foregrounds the rivalry that has erupted between some of the city's wealthiest families. The Golden Age explores how upper-class societies tend to treat their new members, as Russell's new rich family struggles with their Old Money neighbors, the van Rhijns. The second season of the show premiered in October 2023 with a promise of coming war by Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) as everyone competes to secure their position in this world of opulence. After its sophomore run, the show secured a comeback for a third seasonand now, Coon offers a shooting update on the upcoming season.

Speaking about the shooting schedule, Coon says:
“Fortunately, it actually lined up pretty perfectly. I think we're going into production on The Gilded Age in July. And while White Lotus will still be shooting in July, I'll probably finish in June, just so they can get it. I'm back for the Age golden
The fact that both shows were on HBO definitely worked in my favor, because everyone is incentivized to make sure everything works. I am very grateful to the people. It's always boots on the ground. It's always, like, the first [assistant directors] and all working together on the calendar
