Homicide Squad detectives are investigating two separate murders in Perth's south where a man and woman, both in their 30s, are believed to have been involved in foul play in the early hours of Friday morning.

The first incident happened at around 1am in Warnbro, where emergency services were called to a house fire on Currie Street.

St John Ambulance took a 35-year-old man and a three-year-old girl to Rockingham Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

This man is helping police with their investigations after a woman's body was discovered inside the house.

Police said the woman knew him and her death was being treated as suspicious, but authorities have not yet determined how she died.

“We have been in contact with forensic pathologists and are still awaiting information on the cause of death,” Acting Detective Constable David Gorton said.

Although there was minimal fire damage to the property, Gorton said it was a “confrontational” scene at the home for first responders.

“At this point, we're treating it as a homicide,” he said.

Detectives are also working on a second possible homicide, which happened a few hours later in Dawesville after an altercation between two men at a gas station.
