While we wait expectantly for Cynthia Erivo to appear on the big screen as Elphaba in the film adaptation of evil (which still doesn't come out until November 2024), we can't help but notice that her beauty and fashion choices have taken a greener turn in recent months.
Erivo has never been one of the red carpets without a stunning and usually dangerously sharp manicure, but lately, they've been especially witches (as in “from the West”). She's worn mint nails with pink flowers accented with rhinestones to CinemaCon, lime green and neon swirls to the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gala, and a metallic emerald French manicure encrusted with diamonds to the Oscars.
The nail artist behind all these recent manicure moments is Erivo's favorite manicurist Rose Hackle, who turned out Erivo's most captivating look yet for the Met Gala on May 6: a manicure with natural elements such as plants, petals and insects suspended in amber. — it was just really acrylic nails and OPI GelColor Stay Shiny Top Coat.
Hackle shared the details behind the Met Gala look, which fit right in with the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme on her Instagram. He noted that the first steps were to create the acrylic base for the nail and then secure the earthy elements directly onto it. Two accent nails encapsulated shiny green dry beetles and small succulents the length of a clear nail. The other digits incorporated rose petals and gold flakes on equally long nail tips for a maximalist French manicure. The base of the French was created with OPI GelColor in Bubble Bath (a translucent pale pink) traced along the edge of the tip of the nail with a thin pencil line of GelColor in Midnight Snacc (a dark forest green ).
This may be a more complicated manicure than most of us are willing to wait for at the salon, but for a night at the Met (or Erivo). evil new aesthetic), fits perfectly. It would come as no surprise that soon we'll all be looking for little bits of flora to slip into our next manicure.
