Dramatic moments in 'Below Deck Down Under

The show premiered in March 2022 and gave viewers a glimpse of Australia's beautiful coastal waters and marine life. Locations toured to include the stunning Whitsunday Islands, a complete paradise! However, another nice thing to look at also caught the attention of the public, through the man in charge, Captain Jason Chambers. It's not hard to see why: the captain is tall, handsome, charming and diplomatic, a keen diver and a devoted father to his daughter Saskia, also known as Sassy. The ship's stewards were also giddy in his presence. However, despite having a model appearance, Captain Chambers was extremely down-to-earth with a strong moral compass.

A memorably shocking moment in the show was when the sailor Luke Jones he was actively chasing the stew Margot Sisson. One night out on board, after an evening drinking the crew, Margot went to bed to rest, as she was tired and wanted to sleep. Shocking footage showed Luke stripping down and climbing into bed with a passed out Margot, who was completely unaware of what was happening. Breaking the “fourth wall” urgently, the crew intervened. Luke tried to lock the camera person and the producers out of the room, but thankfully he was unsuccessful. Upon hearing what happened the next morning, Margot was understandably distraught. Viewers supported Margot (and were appalled by Luke's behavior), but also applauded Captain Jason's handling of the situation, along with the stew in chief. Aesha Scott. The incident was the trigger for Aesha, who had previously been sexually assaulted, and Captain Chambers and his fellow crew members also rallied around her.

Captain Jason Chambers showed great empathy and leadership, sending Luke off and supporting Margot through a dark and difficult time. He made it clear that a crew member's door was his boundary and not to be crossed without explicit consent. This was also the case when, incredibly, another member of the crew received unwanted advances from one of their teams, in the same episode. This time it was a woman pushing boundaries with her male counterpart, making him decidedly uncomfortable. Hostess Laura Bileskalne was seen entering the cast member's room Adam Kodra and trying to massage and kiss her, without her consent. Not only that, but she also supported Luke and his actions, expressing sympathy and sadness for him being fired.

Upon discovering what had happened, Captain Jason wasted no time firing Laura from the ship, displaying a zero-tolerance policy for any type of sexual misconduct and his insensitive behavior towards Margot. Since the episode aired, Laura has publicly apologized for her actions on her social media, while Luke has been less forthcoming, with a vague apology at best, though as shown on the show, he contacted Margot via text message. Despite this, Captain Jason has encouraged fans of the show not to write either of them off completely, still following Luke on social media and commenting positively on his posts, with the message that it seems everyone can make mistakes, the key is to learn from them. and move on.

Captain Jason Chambers is growing a fan base

Although Chambers already had a fan base, his no-nonsense and sensitive approach to both incidents won him many more and made fans want to know more about him. Many took to his social media where he is quite active Instagramposting updates about their travels, outdoor activities, etc scuba diving, his house/rental paradise in the Philippines and time spent with his daughter. Wherever Chambers is in the world, he makes sure to Facetime or call his daughter and keep up with what's going on in his life. When he has free time, his first priority is to travel to see her and spend time with her. Show that you can travel the world and still be a devoted father and strong male role model. The two are not mutually exclusive.

On his social media, Jason also talks about men's health, such as prostate cancer prevention, and is an ambassador for Classroom of Hope, an early childhood education charity, and environmental causes such as the Mares Foundation, with the aim of reversing the effects of pollution in the ocean.

The Captain is also a great advocate of “wellness” and extols the virtues of meditation, yoga and breathing, perhaps helping him maintain his calm, zen approach when dealing with the dramas on the ship. However, despite his cold demeanor, Captain Jason has shown on the show that he has a strong moral compass and that inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and if it happens, there will be serious consequences. It's an important message for all, no pun intended.

“Captain Charming” by Deck Down Under

Under the deck it also has a lot of fun and light-hearted moments as well as a lot of drama involving the crew and passengers! In one episode, the captain happily appeared on his “budgie smugglers” as part of the entertainment for guests, and in another he had to sail the boat to Cairns Marina. Footage showed that in 2019, due to a mechanical failure on the boat, Captain Jason had to crash with full force in the same marina. But as always, the captain handled the situation with grace. The same applied when it came to firing fiery chef Ryan McKeown who, despite creating top-notch food for guests, didn't receive the same accolades for his interpersonal skills, creating tension between he and other members of the crew, especially the chief. Aesha stew. Captain Jason's grace and charm seemed to be missing from Ryan when, after leaving the ship and the show, he “loved” his former boss and the cameras.

Fans of the show have stated that Jason is a role model in terms of his actions and behavior on and off the ship. A fair, balanced, decisive and inclusive captain on board and a loving and adventurous father on land. A champion of well-being, fairness and justice, belying his Libran astrological sign, the symbol of the scales or “balance”.

For an entertaining show that covers team dynamics, travel, ethics and morals, and plenty of highs and lows caught on camera, directed by a man with a great moral compass, pun intended, be sure to tune in Under the deck.
