New York – Former President Donald Trump's lawyers were grilled on Thursday adult film actress Stormy Danielsrepeatedly accusing her of fabricating the alleged sexual encounter between her and Trump, as well as profiting from the story.
“You're trying to make me say it's changed, but it hasn't,” Daniels said in response to a question from Trump's lawyer, Susan Necheles, as Necheles tried to find discrepancies in her story.
Daniels admitted that getting money for her story was important to her, but remained adamant that “I never asked President Trump for money.” While she reminded Necheles that she wasn't paid for the bombshell 2018 “60 Minutes” interview, Necheles tried to show that her subsequent book deals, tours and reality TV appearances were the result of this interview.
The $130,000 payment Daniels received from Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen before the 2016 election is at the center of the case. Prosecutors are accusing Trump of falsifying business records stemming from those refunds. His defense attorneys have argued that the money was to cover Cohen's legal fees.
